Continental Bathing Traditions
At The Well, you are not required to bathe naked, unless you wish to. In our pools, it is completely up to you whether you wish to swim with or without swimwear – both options are perfectly fine!
The Well is built on continental bathing traditions with natural nudity. Natural nudity means being naked where and when it feels natural, and many find peace and enjoy the freedom of bathing in this way – naked. Everyone must cover up with a towel or bathrobe when moving around the facility. In the Brasserie, a bathrobe is required.
If you wish to swim with swimwear, you must use The Well's own, which can be purchased at the reception.
Why Naked in the Sauna?
The Well holds the highest standards for hygiene and health, which is why swimwear is not allowed in saunas and steam rooms. You are always welcome to cover up with a towel or a peshtemal.
When you take a sauna or steam bath with swimwear made of synthetic materials, sweat gets trapped in the fabric. The warm and enclosed environment under the swimwear becomes a greenhouse for bacteria and fungi. When you use this swimwear in our pools, these bacteria are transferred into the pool, where they continue to develop, causing unclean water and bad odors. Therefore, always shower naked and rinse off all sweat after using the sauna or steam room.
There are several reasons why you should be naked in the sauna and steam room, not least so that you can have a better wellness experience. It is important that the heat radiation reaches the entire skin, and that sweat from the skin's surface can evaporate freely.
Swimwear Day Every Tuesday
Would you like to visit The Well but prefer to go to the sauna and steam rooms in swimwear? Then you should visit us on a Swimwear Day.
Every Tuesday is Swimwear Day at The Well. Swimwear is mandatory for the entire day.
In the showers, for hygiene reasons, we recommend that you naturally shower off your sweat without swimwear. Be sure to rinse your swimwear thoroughly.
Only The Well's specially developed swimwear is allowed (choose between bikini, swimsuit, shorts, and speedo), which you can purchase at the reception upon arrival. Take it home after use, wash it, and bring it with you for your next visit.
